I'm Pepper Saint Clair, otherwise known as The Luminary Loner. Pittsburgh is home, the Steelers have my loyalty, and my closest companion is Rocky, a raccoon whose understanding of personal boundaries is about as impressive as his contribution to the household expenses. I'm a writer, observer, creative eccentric, and unapologetic enthusiast of my own company. My world is deliberately small, but my curiosity has never respected boundaries.

History is full of fascinating people, extraordinary achievements, and stories that somehow escaped the textbooks. In The Noir History Diaries, I explore Black history, beginning with my beloved Pittsburgh and wandering wherever curiosity takes me. Some of these people were brilliant, some were scandalous, and a surprising number managed to be both. Naturally, I intend to investigate.

Pepper's Escapades

I enjoy traveling alone, although I prefer to call it traveling without unnecessary committee meetings. I arrange trusted local contacts before arriving somewhere unfamiliar because independence and common sense should never be mutually exclusive. From Pittsburgh discoveries to international adventures, art exhibitions, remarkable restaurants, and The Proper Pour, I collect experiences worth remembering. Preferably with good lighting and a respectable drinks menu.

Pepper's Prescription for Stupidity

Human behavior is endlessly fascinating, particularly when common sense has apparently taken an extended leave of absence. On my podcast, Pepper's Prescription for Stupidity, I examine questionable behavior, diagnose the symptoms, and prescribe remedies from my own rather unconventional vocabulary. It's satire, social observation, and therapeutic sarcasm administered in doses I consider entirely appropriate. Unfortunately, the waiting room is getting crowded.

Pepper's Knickknacks & Bric-à-Brac

I have a weakness for beautiful, unusual, and occasionally unnecessary things. Here you'll discover artwork, tumblers, accessories, and other delightful curiosities that have managed to capture my attention. A little Edina Monsoon lives in my shopping habits, although I like to believe I exercise considerably better judgment. Rocky disagrees, but his taste is questionable.

The Pepper Files

Some observations deserve to be written down, while others deserve an entire file. The Pepper Files is my collection of digital products, downloadable guides, books, and other creations inspired by my experiences and particular approach to life. Think of it as my personal filing cabinet, except considerably more attractive and with fewer documents requiring government identification.

Sable & Saint

I appreciate clothing that makes a statement without requiring its wearer to make a speech. Sable & Saint is my developing apparel collection, beginning with a small selection of graphic T-shirts that reflect my appreciation for individuality, wit, and personal style. The collection is still finding its feet, and I see no reason to rush a wardrobe, particularly one with ambitions.

The Woman Behind the Glasses

I'm a fictional persona created by Kimberly Ann Hawes, shaped by her Pittsburgh roots, creative eye, personal experiences, and particular way of looking at the world. The research, observations, and experiences behind my stories come from a real woman; I'm simply the illustrated one delivering them with better lighting and fewer wardrobe limitations. As The Luminary Loner, I celebrate independence, solitude, and the extraordinary pleasure of living without constantly explaining myself. Rocky remains unavailable for comment.
